Creek into Summer League Final

MITCH Creek today continued to make his case for a full NBA contract, leading Minnesota Timberwolves into the Final of Summer League in Las Vegas.

The man who won his club MVP award at Adelaide 36ers in his final NBL season before turning his full focus last year to an NBA career, opened today's qualifying 85-77 win over (ironically) Brooklyn Nets with a 3-point swish and a driving basket for the Wolves' first five points.

He finished with 11 points at 67 per cent, with 3-of-4 triples, plus three rebounds, three assists and a block in 27:54 of on-court leadership.

The Memphis Grizzlies claimed their spot in the Final with an 88-86 overtime win over New Orleans Pelicans.

WINNING: Mitch Creek (#55) and teammates celebrate Minnesota into the Final.

The irony today in Creek leading the Nets' downfall is it was Brooklyn where he scored his first NBA 10-day contract last season, while leading the franchise's G-League affiliate, Long Island Nets.

It also was where he scored his first NBA point, a memorable free throw.

It is looking increasingly less likely he will be suiting in the NBL for South East Melbourne Phoenix in 2019-20 and more likely his NBA dream will become a fully fledged reality.

Lord knows he's worked hard enough for it.
