December 10 for a Lightning strike

THE history of the Adelaide Lightning with surprise guests, copies of my new book "A Type of Life" for sale, and news out of Basketball SA ... the Free Throw Foundation's pre-Christmas lunch on December 10 at the Highway Hotel is one not to be missed.

Doors open at 12 midday, with tickets available at this link.

Event guest speakers will include former Noarlunga City Tigers WNBL and Olympics superstars Jenny Cheesman and Julie Nykiel, "Cheesy" also a star with Canberra Capitals.

Adelaide Lightning championship winners Marina Wood (nee Moffa) and Laura Hodges (nee Summerton) also will talk about the club's long history as the WNBL reaches the ripe age of 40, when life supposedly begins!

I'll be there too, discussing my new memoir "A Type of Life", with a story or two from my four-plus decades in media covering basketball.

There will even be copies of my book available for purchase, with part-proceeds going to the Free Throw Foundation.

And no, it doesn't end there, Basketball SA will be represented, speaking to the female participation strategy it currently is implementing.

An auction and raffle prizes also have been lined up to help make the day even more memorable.
