Asia Cup G2: Boomers' early goodnight for Lebanon

ASIA CUP MEN: THEIR 7-0 start put an early end to Korea but in their second Asia Cup clash in Jeddah, the Boomers produced a first quarter scoring clinic, bursting out 20-4 over Lebanon, Jaylin Galloway on fire as Australia flourished in a 3-point and dunk fest en route to a 93-80 rout.

Galloway had two threes, a dunk and two free throws in a 10-point first quarter, before finishing with an 18-point match return, shot at 75 per cent and accompanied by five boards, three assists and four steals in 26 minutes.

Owen Foxwell delivered his two threes in that first quarter flurry where Jack McVeigh also chimed in with a long-range missile, the game over at the first break, Australia 31-14 clear.

Bear in mind, this was before Reyne Smith came in to ice three 3-pointers and a pair of free throws in an 11-point second quarter as the Boomers sat 58-38 ahead at halftime.

Once again, every member of Adam Caporn's mostly youthful 12-man roster contributed on the scoresheet, Jack White also hauling down 10 boards and Will "Davo" Hickey dishing a quality nine assists.

The Boomers' ball movement was impeccable, with 29 assists on 32 made baskets, Lebanon always competitive and closing the match with an encouraging 20-9 final period, making the final scoreline appear considerably more respectable than the disparity evident in the blitzing first period.

Winless Qatar is Australia's final opponent in Group A intrapool play, meaning the Boomers' Asia Cup title defence should continue unimpeded into the playoff rounds.
