Brad&Boti: WNBL 'secret' as NBL flourishes

THE WNBL quietly had its eight teams under one roof for a preseason tournament in Townsville as the NBL swung through a second round and we finally have seen all 10 teams, creating great fodder for Brad Rosen and I on our Brad&Boti podcast.

We take a quick look through the (secret?) events in Townsville and the WNBL acknowledging the legacy of Tiana Mangakahia by naming the preseason tournament MVP award after her.

And congratulations to Isabelle Bourne, the first recipient of the medal.

Melbourne flexed its NBL muscles at South East's expense and Perth escaped New Zealand unscathed despite huge mood (and momentum) swings in that one.

How about those Taipans from Cairns?

Brad and I vehemently disagree on the general officiating treatment of small market teams in the wake of Adam Forde's three successful Coach's Challenges in his Taipans' win over Sydney.

And what about Javale McGee's debut for the Hawks against Tasmania?

It was enormous, then arguably topped by Bryce Cotton's 39-point output in Adelaide's home win over a depleted Brisbane Bullets outfit.

There was much to admire about the round and more to come with Melbourne United on Friday and South East Melbourne Phoenix on Sunday hosting the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans.

We look at the NBL matches in Round 3 and run through our respective "Play of the Week" and "Player of the Round".

And that's before we deliver our Nagy Nasty and Rosen Rattler.

You may notice a few little audio issues near the start but it's all good and all accessible for you right now by either clicking on this link, or going to your usual podcast destinations.

YEAH ... that's a jumpball!
