Brad&Boti: WNBL semis and NBL pointy end

IT'S semi final time in the WNBL but there was no surprise in either of the Game 1s in the best-of-three series between Townsville and Southside or Perth-Bendigo but there was plenty to contemplate from the penultimate NBL regular season round, so Brad Rosen and I did that at our Brad&Boti podcast.

The Fire opening with a 17-0 run immediately grounded the Flyers while Perth's defensive focus on recently crowned league MVP Isobel Borlase meant a tough night for her in Bendigo's loss.

Can the Spirit force this to three games? Well, while we do expect another spirited performance, we agree the Lynx should be heading into the Grand Final and waiting for Townsville to complete its appointment.

Pointy end of the season in the NBL?

You bet, with Sydney all but assured of winning the regular season championship but the results of the Melbourne United-South East Melbourne Phoenix and the Perth Wildcats-Adelaide 36ers games in the last round will determine what order the teams finish from second to fifth.

Tassie has sixth locked away although it would have been fun if that berth was still available and the JackJumpers needed to beat the already eliminated defending champion Illawarra Hawks this round.

Apart from our predictions for the last round of the regular season, Brad and I also share our thoughts on the NBL's upcoming awards, including why we think the JJ's Scott Roth has done such a superlative job, but why it will count for nought in the Coach of the Year stakes.

Will Torrey Craig's recruitment at Sydney make the biggest difference to the playoffs, in the way Melbourne Tigers once added Marcus Timmons late or Perth Wildcats added Bryce Cotton late?

We talk MVP and the other awards but Brad also has a Rosen Rattler and I offer a lighter Nagy Nasty.

We have Player(s) and Plays of the Round for both the WNBL semis and the NBL round, and all this and more awaits at this LINK. OR .... Go to your usual podcast destinations.
