Brad&Boti: Ladies first, then blowing the whistle
TweetWHAT a fabulous start the WNBL shot off to as all four Round 1 games were claimed by road warriors, there were great turn-outs for the matches and meanwhile the NBL was setting records, as Brad Rosen and I discuss at this week's Brad&Boti podcast.
Bryce Cotton's 53 points against Cairns is the highest individual score by an Adelaide 36er, topping the 48 shot by the late Iceman, Darryl Pearce way back in 1988, during the 48-minute era.
New Zealand had just two turnovers in its win over Tasmania, the lowest number in that category over the 43 years since the stat was first recorded.
But how about the WNBL's tip-off?
Canberra got the job done in Melbourne over Southside, with my MVP favourite Sara Blicavs - I see Lauren Jackson has jumped on that bandwagon now - playing an exceptional game.
How about Lauren Nicholson for Sydney in Geelong where she dominated with a match-winning 20-point first half?
Abbey Ellis going for 31 points, 10 boards and four assists as Townsville beat defending champion Bendigo was another huge stand-out performance.
And that was before former Lightning star and Adelaide-born Alex Ciabattoni led Perth to victory in front of the biggest opening night crowd in Lightning's long history.
We give you our Plays and Players of the Round, as we do with the NBL, where the expulsion of Kings coach Brian Goorjian in the clash with Perth still is very much front-of-mind.
What is up with our super thin-skinned referees at the moment?
Brad and I revisit our Top Six selections, review the matches and still have time for a Rosen Rattler and a Nagy Nasty.
It's all here and with so much more, just click on this link and you're up, up and away.
Well, OK, maybe not quite like him!
But if you prefer, you can also go to your usual podcast destinations, you know - Apple, audioboom, Spotify etc - and find us talking women's and men's hoops there.
And while Tim Coenraad, below, cannot fly, he CAN levitate...

OK, I apologise but I cannot help it, I love that photograph so much.
Your bonus in following the Brad&Boti podcast is that it is audio only so you won't ever be subjected to my visual sense of humour, or lack thereof.
Did I mention Brad and I also give our predictions for the WNBL's Round 2?
