Brad&Boti: A week chock full of activity

THE WNBL Championship Series, upshot of the semis, end of the NBL regular season, the award announcements and Ignite Cup Final, the Boomers in FIBA action - Brad Rosen and I have plenty to ponder at this week's Brad&Boti podcast, and we get right down to it from tip-off!

We take it all in chronological order, with our "ladies first" proviso, starting at Southside managing to force its WNBL semi to three games against Townsville.

We didn't see that coming and it was easily the Flyers' best performance of the season. That said, in Game 3, Townsville prevailed at home and yes, we got the Townsville-Perth Championship Series appointment as we predicted a while ago.

Can the Fire burn down Perth's rampage, the Lynx taking out the plucky but undermanned defending champion Bendigo who lived up to their nickname, showing tremendous spirit in both matches.

Who was our Player(s) of the Semi Finals and what was our stand-out Play?

We have all this and more before moving to the NBL and its awards.

Congratulastions to all the winners, especially Bryce Cotton as now a six-time MVP. Brad would have liked to have seen an MVP tie for Bryce and Kendric Davis and also in the Coach of the Year stakes where Brian Goorjian just beat Josh King.

We talk defence and John Brown, with a spirited discussion about Bul Kuol as well. But Brown, the Best Sixth Man (Angus Glover) and Flynn Cameron (Most Improved) all have our ticks of approval.

The First and Second "Teams"? Come on now, don't call them teams. The debate rages!

How far will Adelaide go in the playoffs? As far as Bryce Cotton can take it and his mere presence guaranteed a semi final finish. But what did we see in the Ignite Cup Final?

(Or hear from Parker Jackson-Cartwright?)

What's the real issue behind the multitude of injuries across the NBL this season and was Scott Roth right in suggesting the scheduling needed looking into? Brad has strong opinions on this issue, as he also does on the question of "respect".

Mike Wells having a crack at John Rillie for Perth playing all the way to the siren - with Jo Lual-Acuil throwing down a dunk - really ground his gears. And I agree. Play to the siren. That's respect - respect to the spectators.

And finally, can our Boomers beat Guam?

All this and more await you now by clicking this LINK, or by going to your usual podcast destinations.
