Brad&Boti: Abbey's blitz and Cole causing fits

HOW amazing was Townsville's Abbey Ellis in the WNBL last round, or Cole Anthony at United in the NBL? They highlighted the tip of the iceberg of great performances which Brad Rosen and I get fully stuck into in this week's Brad&Boti podcast.

There was a plenty to love about WNBL Round 2, tipped off with Ellis, Townsville's diminutive firebrand, going off for a club and season record 47 points.

She played the full 40 minutes against Adelaide as she compiled the highest individual tally in more than 20 years and did it mostly against a premier defender in Steph Talbot.

How about Cole Anthony at United, called for a fifth foul charge against Perth on potentially the match-winning play, then blitzing defending champion Sydney soon after, showing his bona fides as a genuine NBA talent.

What a way to bounce back!

But there's more, much more. From Brandon Knight taking Anthony's charge in Perth before knocking down the match-winning jumpshot, to Sydney Flames guard Jaz Shelley stepping up to reduce Ellis' effectiveness in a WNBL upset in Townsville.

Unfurling that championship banner sure can have its downside!

Chinese international star Han Xu returned to WNBL action by steering a depleted Geelong to a sold-out home win over Southside, the Flyers starting the round by bursting Tasmania's bubble.

The Flames now top the table with a 4-0 record after adding Canberra's scalp before the trip to Townsville, Perth also undefeated after handling Adelaide.

What were our Plays of the Week and who qualified as our Player of the Round? Our tips for Round 3 also are in.

We didn't do too badly in our Round 6 NBL predictions, Brad and I debate the Cole Anthony|Brandon Knight charge|block call, and remain shellshocked by the 3-point avalanche South East unleashed on Adelaide.

How the 36ers almost fully recovered is testament to the team but a club record 42-point first quarter by the Phoenix in a 72-point half certainly made life unbearable for Adelaide.

Have we been under-estimating Cairns? This week's NBL tips should give that question an answer. The Play and Player of the Round are also dissected before a Nagy Nasty and a Rosen Rattler.
