Brad&Boti: Why our WNBL is 'pure basketball'
TweetWHAT is it about the WNBL and women's basketball in general that my podcast colleague Brad Rosen loves so much that in this week's episode, he is waxing lyrical about it in comparison to what he is seeing from the men? There's plenty to listen for in this round's Brad&Boti podcast.
It's good to know we can be in agreement about some things, because we're certainly kilometres apart on our thoughts on the NBL's Sydney Kings.
Were they completely over-rated by the so-called experts and therefore now being subjected to overly harsh scrutiny when perhaps, just perhaps, they were never going to be quite as good as the pundits were telling us?
What we DO know is the Townsville Fire are every bit as good as we predicted and have every right to be considered WNBL championship favourites.
What they did to Canberra was merciless and what Geelong did to Adelaide was similarly relentless.
The lack of resistance from the Lightning though was hugely disappointing and with both Adelaide and the Caps coming off 30-plus point defeats, their showdown this week is pivotal.
And how good was Perth's comeback to beat Sydney after still trailing by 10 well into the final quarter?
The Lynx are banking wins now while not being at full strength which makes them a scary proposition down the track. And what were the plays and who were the players of the week?
Why are there more "blow-outs" these days in the NBL? I give Brad my theory but we'd rather talk one-point finishes because there were four in the eight games of NBL round 6.
We revisist our respective NBL "Top Six" predictions and that's before Brad hits us with a Rosen Rattler and I bowl down a Nagy Nasty. Plus we preview the NBL round, as we do the WNBL.
