Brad&Boti: Road warriors and WNBA heroes
TweetROAD wins galore, upsets in an NBL impossible to predict, crazy whiny behaviour, and a WNBL providing more questions than answers as it awaits the imminent return of new WNBA champion Miela Sowah and runner-up isobel Borlase - there is plenty for us to discuss at the Brad&Boti podcast.
And Brad Rosen and I jump right into it, impressed by what we've been seeing in the WNBL, where now only Bendigo - one of our favourites to be in action at the season's business end - is yet to break into the Wins column.
Adelaide Lightning ended their duck and Tasmania's Jewels showed again that beating them on their home turf - be it Hobart or Launceston - will take some doing.
There were several stand-out performances too and, as always, Brad and I saw different things for our respective Play of the Round and also our Player of the Round.
Plus, here's the big tip - Brad cannot get over the strawberry milkshakes available at Adelaide's Burger Boss. (You'll have to tune in to understand that reference.)
Before Melbourne United beat a depleted New Zealand in the NBL's Mebourne Cup Eve game, all eight games in Round 7 were won by the road teams.
It was extraordinary, especially in a couple of instances such as lowly Illawarra handing the Wildcats their heads in Perth and a sorely depleted Tasmania teaching South East Melbourne a lesson in gutsy determination.
When should Perth's Elijah Pepper start to feel some scrutiny after a super season-start has begun to wane? And can Illawarra even afford to wait as long as it might take to secure Brisbane's injury replacement import PG Raul Neto when Arnas Velicka returns?
Is it time for Milton Doyle to be dropped from the Hawks' nest?
We have all this and much more, including our Play and Player of the Week, plus a rollicking Rosen Rattler and a nefarious Nagy Nasty.
