Brad&Boti: We need more serves of Rod Laver Arena
TweetHOW good was seeing top level basketball back at Rod Laver Arena? Brad Rosen and I were thrilled the NBA-NBL series took us back there and we discuss how well that went, along with a WNBL update and a full hard look at which teams performed in Round 3 on this week's Brad&Boti podcast.
The New Orleans Pelicans had to be a little surprised at the extent of their popularity in Australia, the NBL more than gracious hosts, the NBAers more than grateful visitors.
It was a win on every front.
But let's be frank, a couple of our NBL teams looked a little sick and sorry in Round 3, most notable Cairns and New Zealand.
The usually affable Brad Rosen does not hold back on his view of the Taipans (probably still smarting from their road win over his beloved Sydney Kings) but it is hard to argue with his observations.
Who is the best PG option in Perth?
Is it Mason Jones or Jaron Rillie?
One thing is for sure. It isn't Dontae Russo-Nance.
Similarly at Illawarra, is it time to pull the trigger on Jaquori McLaughlin? He isn't helping Tyler Harvey much and the Hawks need a better option, even when Davo Hickey returns. Fast forward to Sydney-New Zealand and Brad is unhappy with my What We Learnt #3 summary of his commentary!
But the real issue here is Breakers coach Peteri Koponen is not drawing the best from his crew. And Sydney right now remains very much a work-in-progress.
What is the roile of an assistant coach? The controversy continues to grow around Brisbane head coach Stu Lash and how much he is delegating. Brad has a distinct view.
We also have a Rosen Rattler and a Nagy Nasty on top of our respective Plays of the Week and Player of the Week.
