Brad&Boti: Have the 36ers surprises up their sleeve?
TweetDON'T look now but Round 3 of the NBL season certainly changed our opinions of a couple of teams and where they currently sit, as Brad Rosen and I tackled the ongoing developments at our Brad&Boti podcast, our Top Six predictions particularly undergoing facelifts.
For our WNBL followers, we have a special program coming up next week where we will digest the worst and best of the season as it launches.
But in the meantime, so much has been going on and not just on court but also with rumours lately linking players such as Mangok Mathiang and Casey Prather to the 36ers.
As the podcast goes to air today, having recorded yesterday, we did not yet know of the potential penalty for Adelaide's Nick Rakocevic for his unwarranted and unnecessary hit on New Zealand's Mojave King in Sunday's fixture in Adelaide.
A serial offender, he was lucky to escape with a one-match ban and even luckier that if the 36ers accept an early plea that suspension will be reduced to a $1,550 fine.
So he should be on-court for the big Ignite Cup showdown between Adelaide and similarly struggling Melbourne United.
"If they stay healthy". Those are the key words to preface discussion of which teams can do what in the 2026-27 season and Brad revisits his belief that some of the already large injury toll can be tracked back to the fact many players simply do not give their bodies rest-and-recovery time.
Playing for close to 12 months of the year - overseas, summer leagues, the NZ NBL, NBL1 after the NBL season - will in due course take its toll.
Brad and I compare our Top Six power rankings and there are some changes underway, and I voice some observations about unusual calls coach Jacob Chance made during United's two losses.
We talk best plays, best player of the round and so much more and go to a Rosen Rattler and a Nagy Nasty to boot.
