Brad&Boti: We did see this axe falling
TweetADELAIDE Lightning reacted to another faltering WNBL campaign by wielding the axe and podcast colleague Brad Rosen and I dissect the decision at this week's Brad&Boti podcast, along with a deep visit to the NBL and a couple of clubs falling by the wayside.
Faltering again in her third year at the helm of Lightning, Nat Hurst being sacked as coach did not come as a huge surprise. It's becoming kind of an Adelaide-thang.
The surprise results continued in the WNBL, Adelaide briefly throwing life into its season by whipping defending champion Southside Flyers before a second loss to league rookie Geelong United spelt the end of Hurst's tenure.
Sydney breathed some life into its campaign, Cayla George setting a tone with a 28 and 14 points|boards double in the Flames' win over Perth Lynx.
In the NBL, it was another Bryce Cotton round of masterful magic, even though the Wildcats went 1-1. Cotton had 40 in the loss to Illawarra, then 49 over a floundering Adelaide. Surely he was Player of the Round? Again.
Brad and I once again examine our most likely Top Six finishers for the playoffs and which clubs are dropping off the pace.
There's all this and more, with a Rosen Rattler and a Nagy Nasty to make you scratch your head.

Yes, there was time to gloat over correctly predicting the WNBL's Perth Lynx would drop both games last round because star starter Alex Ciabattoni was absent. What do you think? Was her reason for being absent valid?
