Basketball rallying for great cause Saturday

ALMOST three decades after he soared over a very different Melbourne skyline, Lanard Copeland has taken flight again.

The classic image of the gliding Tiger, captured by photographer Dave Callow back in 1997, can now be seen on billboards across Melbourne promoting Saturday’s Legends of Basketball Game for Bowel Cancer.

In Copeland's most famous words, "We have a ball game" and many of the game's greats will be involved.

If you haven’t bought your ticket for the inaugural Legends of Basketball Game for Bowel cancer at the State Basketball Centre on Saturday, you need to get moving.

EVENT DETAILS
*State Basketball Centre
* Saturday, February 28
* Tickets on sale now at https://www.mycause.com.au/.../legendsofbasketballforbowe...

For more information about this special night – one dedicated to raising bowel cancer awareness, funding vital research and helping save lives – visit the official event website at https://www.mycause.com.au/.../legendsofbasketballforbowe...

And while you’re there, take a moment to read the selection of inspiring patient stories and find out how you can contribute to this great cause even if you can’t be there on the night.

All funds raised will support the Gibbs Lab at the Walter Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI), helping to drive research and improve early detection.

*For those keeping score, ‘97 was a Tigers’ NBL championship year and Copeland’s running mates that season included Andrew Gaze, Mark Bradtke, Marcus Timmons, Warrick Giddey and Ray Gordon.

Join all six of them and North Melbourne Giants championship star Paul Maley at the State Basketball Centre on February 28.
