Bogey bounces back
TweetGOOD news for Aussie NBA fans and Andrew Bogut followers with the 213cm Melbourne-born big-man ready to take his place in the first round of the playoffs with Golden State.
The Warriors will be up against Denver Nuggets and Bogut has hurdled his latest ankle setback and will be on the court this weekend.
The Bogeyman returned to the court today against Portland Trail Blazers and while he was rusty in the 99-88 win, coach Mark Jackson was just thrilled to have him back.
"Most importantly, I want him healthy,'' Jackson said.
"It was good to see him healthy and moving well.''
After underoging arthroscopic and micro-fracture surgery on his ankle, Bogut missed 38 games at the start of the season so there was considerable angst in the Warriors' camp when he limped off the court on the same left ankle in a game against the Oklahoma City on April 11.
He sat out two games but fears he would miss the playoffs were relieved when the injury was assessed as a bone bruise.
Bogut did not set the world alight with just two points on 1-of-8 shooting in 17:17 of action against the Blazers. But he still grabbed eight boards, had three assists and blocked two shots.
Golden State will need his keyway presence against the Nuggets, the series starting in Denver on Sunday, Australian time.
Against Portland, Bogut's hot-shooting teammate Stephen Curry created NBA history when he swished his 272nd three-pointer of the season, surpassing the record formerly held by the Miami Heat's Ray Allen.
Curry made 4-for-11 from beyond the arc to ultimately easily eclipse Allen's previous mark of 269.
