Chris is a very naughty boy

AMAZING, eh? Yesterday I lambasted the NBL for saying zip about the league’s “Chris Anstey investigations” and today, out of nowhere, we get a missive saying what has occurred in the past eight days.

Eight days.

That was how long ago the NBL informed the media it was investigating the Melbourne coach for public criticism of referees in his press conference after the road loss in Sydney.

His “report” for abusing two referees in the tunnel post-game was not reported anywhere but here but look at that … it was correct, after all.

Should this stuff had been made public before he coached in the last round? Well, of course.

But it appears the NBL has broken its own permanent embargo to tell us the following today:

CHRIS ANSTEY INVESTIGATION FINDINGS

The NBL has completed its investigation into charges laid against Chris Anstey following the Round 14 game between Melbourne Tigers and Sydney Kings on January 19, 2014.

Mr Anstey was charged with two offences, dealt with separately.

Charge 1: Use of offensive language towards game officials
This charge relates to comments made by Mr Anstey towards the match referees at the completion of the game
Mr Anstey admitted the offence and was found guilty at a tribunal hearing. He was fined an undisclosed sum, suspended in its entirety until the completion of the 2013/14 regular season.

Charge 2: Public criticism of game referees
This charge relates to comments made by Mr Anstey at the official post-game press conference
The NBL has determined Mr Anstey is guilty of breaching the NBL Rules and regulations.
He has been fined an undisclosed sum with half of the fine suspended for 12 months.

So there you go. Clearly Chris must have threatened to curtail his weekly nbl.com.au column to get off so lightly.

He is NOT the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy.
