FLASHBACK 145: The birth of Victorian Basketball
Tweet*FLASHBACKS, my irregular "lucky dip" where I just reach into my drawers of old Australian basketball stuff and transcribe or post whatever I find for you.* This week featuring the first 50 years of VBA history.
We're only 5-and-a-half years from the VBA registering its 100th year of existence, its soon-to-be-celebrated Centenary.
But back in 1981, colleague and journalistic mentor Graham Burke was commissioned and penned a history of the VBA's first 50 years.

It makes for a great read if you can get past the first few pages which are a little sketchy.
But if you've attended national junior championship and wondered who was Ivor Burge, for example, it is one of the many answers you will find here in Burkey's comprehensive review of Victorian basketball's first "official" half-century.
Oh, and please excuse the coffee stain on the cover!
