Goulding good news
TweetBETTER news off the presses for Melbourne Tigers fans – Chris Goulding’s ankle injury may not be as bad as first feared.
Personally, when I saw him in a half-plaster cast yesterday, my heart sank because I had him as my MVP favorite and there he was on crutches.
Cannot imagine how devastated he felt and so too Tigers and basketball fans because it looked serious when he went down against Townsville in their Saturday night Blitz clash at NSISC.
But the plaster was precautionary and designed to completely immobilise the ankle, “Bubbles” with no major bone fracture or ligament damage, as discovered by his MRI today.
It’s still a significant ankle injury though, with bone bruising and a high grade sprain.
“He’s already in a hyperbaric chamber and this first week (of rehab) will be huge for him,” Tigers coach Chris Anstey said.
“He’ll be evaluated daily and hopefully we’ll have him on court some time in November.”
Melbourne’s coaching staff will consider possible replacement players with a view to making an announcement by Friday.
