Boomers B set to bounce qualifiers
Tweet
THE best news about tomorrow night's FIBA 2027 World Cup Asian qualifier in Perth won't be watching the Boomers squash Guam into jam but seeing Bryce Cotton in the green-n-gold and knowing this national group is closer to Australia B than some of our more recent qualification outfits.
No, this isn't Australia A, or we'd see some guys named Giddey, Daniels, Landale, Exum etc running around RAC Arena.
But who can't get excited about seeing Cotton out there, or Taran Armstrong calling the plays, Mitch Creek and Keanu Pinder back in the fold ... where they long have belonged.
And Paris Olympian Jack McVeigh in his country's colours makes tuning in worthwhile.
The impact of local NBL heroes such as Angus Glover, Josh Bannan, Wani Swaka Lo Buluk and Reyne Smith again will be worth a look.
Might have been nice to also see Will Magnay, Xavier Cooks and Jack White out there too but it's not as if they should be needed.
I mean, it's Guam FFS. Then the Philippines on Monday.
Powerhouses of international basketball? Hardly.
It's not the opponents for whom I'll be tuning in though. Check you local guides for times and settle back for what should be an enjoyable ride.
