Hawks are flying once more
TweetDON’T be too surprised if A.J. Ogilvy and Kevin Lisch are two of the boom recruits for Illawarra Hawks in the new regime under coach Rob Beveridge.
Ogilvy, an NBL All Star with Sydney Kings in 2013-14 before heading to Spain’s La Bruixa d'Or Manresa last season, actively was courted by Melbourne United and looked headed there for 2015-16 before that deal fell through.
The 211cm Sydney-born big man, who had a stellar college career at Vanderbilt University and has the tools to rip apart the NBL, averaged 13.1 points while also leading the league in rebounding with 8.7 boards and 2.3 blocks, along with 1.9 assists per game in his season at the Kings.

He would be a major coup for the Hawks, Beveridge already on the record as saying free agent core players such as Oscar Forman, Tim Coenraad, Larry Davidson and Tyson Demos are priority retainees.
Rhys Martin already has been resigned and now Lisch, who was the Larry Sengstock Medallist playing for Beveridge in Perth’s 2010 NBL champion, is in discussions to return to Australia in Wollongong.
His wife Rachel is from Sydney and the move makes a lot of sense on not only playing but also personal levels, the couple now with two children younger than two.
Lisch, 29 and a 188cm shooting guard, is a proven NBL import, the league MVP in 2012 and a multiple All Star Five selection.

He already would be well-known and respected in the Gong after his performance in the 2010 Grand Final series, his 3-point heave for Perth to end the third quarter of the deciding Game 3 breaking the Hawks’ resolve.
Make no mistake. Illawarra is flying!
