Kickert back for United, and more
TweetYOU probably read it here fifth but Daniel Kickert will be back for a sophomore NBL season with Melbourne United.
Kickert averaged 13.8 ppg and 4.4 rebounds in his 2014-15 NBL debut, after a successful college and European career.
Much like Chris Anstey, Kickert is not the traditional "big" and capable of playing inside and from range.
Last season the agile 208cm pivot shot the 3-ball at 51 per cent.
Pro basketball reporter David Pick was among the first to predict Kickert would return to United so there is no reason to doubt his other call - D-League guard Stephen Holt also to be in Melbourne's colours as one of its imports.
A 6-4 point guard from St Mary's College who trialled with the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers ... isn't that who we'll all be talking about again tomorrow?
Well no, not exactly. Holt played behind Delly at the Gaels but had an impressive college career and should be a good NBL fit.
IN Townsville, the Crocs have signed Mitch Young to go with Mitch Norton, the Adelaide 36ers relieved they have Mitch Creek already secured for 2015-16.
"They're on some sort of Mitch-hunt," Sixers coach Joey Wright didn't say.
Crocs coach Shawn Dennis allegedly said it was just easier to sign guys with the same name, "rather than having to learn a lot of new names each season."
"I'm getting older now and that can be a strain," he clearly didn't say.
The Crocs apparently also are pursuing former NBL import Mike Mitchell to see if his son is import quality.
"We'd be happy to even get a son-of-a-Mitch," said Dennis, confessing even his favourite cartoon character Dennis the Menace was, in fact, a Mitchell.
The Crocs are dedicating the 2015-16 season to Townsville's original local star, Kieron Mitchelhill.
