NBA Today - Bull dust
TweetCHICAGO Bulls' coach Tom Thibodeau was hit with a $35,000 fine for criticising officials after Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semi final with Miami.
Today Thibodeau was hit by a Mack truck as the Heat pulverised and exposed his battling Bulls 88-65 in Game 4 to take a commanding 3-1 lead back to Miami.
In short, this is all but over.
LeBron James had 15 points, Chris Bosh 12 in the first half, Miami ahead 44-33 and the Bulls shooting bricks at 27 percent to the interval.
That was before they went 2-of-13 in the third quarter for a mere nine points, a franchise low.
Their 65 points also was a post-season franchise record for futility.
James finished with 27 points, eight assists and seven rebounds and was a beast.
Carlos Boozer had 14 points for Chicago on 3-of-14 shooting and sparkplug Nate Robinson was misfiring at 0-for-12. Sadly for Bulls fans, the point guard was pointless.
"We are disappointed with the way we played but there is still basketball left and we are not giving up," Joakim Noah said.
"We have a lot left in the tank.''
It's a shame they didn't show it.
At Memphis, Tony Allen opened overtime with a drive as the Grizzlies beat Oklahoma City 103-97, pushing the defending Western Conference champion to the brink of elimination.
The Thunder had built their largest lead of this series at 17 points but Memphis has not lost on its homecourt this postseason and came back strongly.
Oklahoma centre Kendrick Perkins - you recall the Six Million Dollar Man? Well this guy is the Seven Million Dollar Ma'am - finally did something which resembled an NBA starter by blocking a Zach Randolph shot to salvage overtime.
But the Grizzlies outscored the Thunder 9-3 in the extension to take a 3-1 lead.
Kevin Durant scored 27 points but missed all five of his shots in overtime.
