Orange County calls for Wortho

A WHILE back a wee birdie told me Mark Worthington was heading to Cairns, which then became Europe, at the same time rumours abounded Corey Webster would not be back to help New Zealand defend its NBL crown.

Well scratch both.

The Breakers shortly will reveal Webster, their game-winning, match-changing, hot-shooting off-guard has been retained and on a new three-year deal.

That means NZ coach Dean Vickerman will have the core(y) of his championship-winning team back in harness for 2015-16 which is great because everyone immediately knows how high the bar is being set.

The Taipans came up short in the 2014-15 Grand Final Series but securing Worthington, Melbourne United's inaugural club MVP, suggests coach Aaron Fearne is tinkering just sufficiently with his team to go that one last step.

And now.

Dropping free agent Mitch Young to Townsville doesn't feel as harsh now with Wortho coming in to the Taipans' house.

Just not sure if it will be on a new contract or one from circa 2011....

Meanwhile in Toronto???

Perth's DeAndre Daniels and Boomers' FIBA World Cup sensation Ryan Broekhoff are coming off a three day camp with the NBA's Toronto Raptors.
