Peach fills the breach for 200
TweetANTHONY Petrie's 200th NBL game todayis going to be one of his toughest because he is going up against Townsville's under-rated but powerful import power forward Brian Conklin.
The man Adelaide 36ers fans know as "Peach" is used to being the Mr Fixit of the team, doing whatever is necessary to make his side successful.
And today that will mean trying to curb Conklin, who has topscored for the Crocs in all three previous clashes with Adelaide.
"He is a very good player," Petrie said as he geared for today's nationally televised showdown.
Conklin, a B.O.T.I. All Star Five selection last season, currently is third in NBL scoring with 19.6ppg.
"You have to know where he is all the time," Petrie said.
"Someone like him, you have to stay so alert.
"He gets so much stuff run for him and no-one in the league seals as well as he does."
Petrie, who across 199 games has provided defence, rebounding, big late game plays, scoring, shot-blocking or just great decision-making - two years ago his work ethic took him to a stunning starting role with the Boomers - says providing what his team needs is his motivation.
Coach Joey Wright is a big help in that but so is his wife Sarah.
"She's a lot harder (on me) than Joey," Petrie said of assessments he gets on the trip home.
Game time at Adelaide Arena is 1.30pm, with Lightning and West Coast battling to avoid the bomb shelter from 11am.
