Prather gathers momentum

THE New York Times is reporting forward Casey Prather has secured an NBL contract, which is why he sat the NBA D-League team’s final hurrahs at the Summer League in Las Vegas.

Prather, 24 and a 198cm wing, looks the right fit for Perth Wildcats, at least that’s the last thing I heard when tracking the story.

He played at the University of Florida, which gave us Scottie Wilbekin last season. If that is any gauge, Prather (above) should have a positive impact on our league at Perth.

Keep an eye out for Marcus Thornton. I’m hearing the Kings would like to pair the all-time leading scorer at William and Mary up with Josh Childress next season.

Thornton, 22 and 191cm, was selected by the Boston Celtics at No.45 in the NBA draft last month so he’s not a “done deal” by any stretch for Sydney.

But if he’s not in the NBA…
