WNBL 'Big Fish' landing, as expected
Tweet
GREAT to see some reasonably big names signing contracts at new WNBL destinations greatly in need of a boost and, of course, at our newest franchise, Tasmania Jewels. Championship-winning coach Claudia Brassard has sought some big fish, playmaking guard Steph Reid her latest "catch".
But you know if you're a regular here, we predicted that one - and a few others which since have come to fruition - way back in April.
Seriously now....

Also wonderful to see Alanna Smith's sister Andie on the Jewels extended roster. WNBA star Alanna has enjoyed a WNBL season with Adelaide Lightning so you can bet Claudia has been on the phone. She'd be crazy not to be!
And speaking of Adelaide, could not be happier to see Gemma Potter revive her career again from ACL surgery with the Lightning, with still more announcements to come.
Just don't be surprised by them ...

But Sydney is where they really should be celebrating. The Flames have secured two genuine young stars in Jaz Shelley (Geelong) and Isabelle Bourne (Southside) but also boosted the team with Opals guard Alex Wilson (Perth).
Not entirely unexpectedly, Cheryl Chambers' arrival as head coach at Geelong where most of its key players were jumping ship, has meant the Venom have signed Maddi Rocci and Bec Cole.
But no, the Venom are not embracing "Southside Lite" as an alternative nickname.
