Wilson, Webster to the rescue

COREY Webster has bailed out the Breakers and the Wilson Group has guaranteed Adelaide 36ers' immediate future with a naming rights sponsorship in a big 24 hours for the league.

He may not have made it onto the New Orleans Pelicans' NBA roster THIS time around, but his gratitude for all the help, encouragement and support he received from his NBL home at the Breakers was clear to see from tip-off against Sydney.

Webster's first basket was a great jumper despite serious hand pressure from Sydney "big" Tom Garlepp. Then he hit another. And another.

Webster's return made the Breakers look considerably more formidable than they have in all but the road loss last round in Perth. He cooled off, understandably, but finished with a game-high 22 in the 74-62 win.

Yes. Rethink your top four predictions now Corey has returned and New Zealand again resembles last season's champion.

THEY'VE been best known in the past as West End 36ers, Eagle Super Sixers and the Pura Milk 36ers, other occasional naming rights sponsors not sticking.

But the Wilson Group is a whole new horizon for the 36ers who now again are beiginning to thrive after an ownership change in June.

Adelaide 36ers and Titanium Security Arena Stadium Management CEO Guy Hedderwick said the landmark partnership with Wilson was massive in the further evolution of SA's iconic NBL entity.

“The Adelaide 36ers boast more than 30 years of NBL history, and this year our focus has been ensuring our organisation is as strong off the court as it has been on the court,” Hedderwick said.

“This partnership with Wilson is definitely a step in that direction. They’re a family-owned business for with more than 50 years of success and we’re looking forward to working with them and having their support this season.”

The club tonight already will embark on its further journey as the rebranded Wilson Adelaide 36ers with their naming rights sponsor already on the uniform.

WITH Wilson balls the NBL's official ball and now Wilson Group behind the 36ers, expect the NBL soon to announce "Castaway" with Tom Hanks as its official movie partner.

The 36ers too are lamenting this didn't happen a year ago, when MVP Jamar Wilson could have had the naming rights sponsor's name on the front AND back of his uniform.

Tonight: Torrey Craig is back in his second favourite venue - it may be teammate Mark Worthington's favourite - as Cairns takes on Adelaide at Titanium Security Arena. It's a  big game for both clubs but I'm leaning to Adelaide with its homecourt advantage.

Last night: BREAKERS 74 (Webster 22, Abercrombie 15, Ce Jackson 11; Abercrombie 10 rebs; Ce Jackson 6 assts) d KINGS 62 (Thornton 18, Khazzouh, Cadee 13; Khazzouh 8 rebs; Prewster, Garlepp 3 assts).  UNITED 93 (Kickert 22, Holt 19, Goulding 14, Hadziomerovic 12, Blanchfield 11; Majok 13 rebs; Tomlinson 4 assts) d CROCODILES 62 (Steindl 19, Kay 9; Conklin 9 rebs; Norton 3 assts).
