Prather disaster, Stu lashed, Breakers roll on

In: NBL — Thursday, 13 Nov, 2025

WHAT an absolutely unconscionable and disgraceful performance last night from coach Stu Lash and his Brisbane Blanks as they meekly surrendered to New Zealand by a whopping 29 points in their NBL Ignite Cup clash, a result darkened still further by the late and unnecessary injury to Casey Prather.

Lilly blossoms, Lightning thundering, Fire red-hot

In: WNBL — Wednesday, 12 Nov, 2025

UNFASHIONABLE Adelaide and depleted Geelong were the talk of WNBL Round 4 after not just stunning but convincing wins over Sydney and Perth respectively, Lilly Rotunno wracking up career-highs for the Venom, while title favourite Townsville went about restoring order.

What we Learnt #8

In: NBL — Tuesday, 11 Nov, 2025

ANOTHER huge NBL round full of "learnings" - the buzz word you now have to use because so many have forgotten the word "lessons" - has seen Melbourne United temporarily floored, Tasmania floundering and three players flourishing with 30-plus outputs, Javale McGee's 37 top of the pops.

Time Out-NO FLOP ZONE: Wildcat insights as NBL pivots

In: NBL — Tuesday, 11 Nov, 2025

YES all right. My podcast partner Joey Wright DID attend the Perth Wildcats' shootaround ahead of their NBL match against the 36ers in Adelaide. But as we explain in our Time Out-NO FLOP ZONE podcast, there was nothing sinister about it and we did get some revelations from it.

Walker steers United back on track as Phoenix flummoxed

In: NBL — Monday, 10 Nov, 2025

AFTER having its 9-0 season start interrupted by NSW's NBL pair, Melbourne flexed its defensive muscle to rattle South East Melbourne in their top-of-the-table Throwdown, playmaking import Tyson Walker showing the way with a 24-point, 6-rebound, 6-assist tour de force.

Wildcats complete the mission and Breakers broken

In: NBL — Monday, 10 Nov, 2025

NEW Zealand shot itself in the foot in both of its NBL Round 8 losses, this time in Sydney, while Dylan Windler led Perth to a competent win in Adelaide, reassuring Wildcat fans that there is "life after Bryce" even though Cotton still paced the 36ers with 23 points and seven assists.

'Elite 8' to join BasketballSA Hall of Fame

In: SA — Sunday, 9 Nov, 2025

BASKETBALL SA will induct eight new faces into its prestigious Hall of Fame in an official  ceremony on Thursday, breaking slightly from tradition with no team inducted this year and no-one elevated to "Legend" status ... but only because its nominees were such incredible stand-outs.

King Mo rules but Hawks rise up regardless

In: NBL — Saturday, 8 Nov, 2025

MOJAVE King was king of the court last night in Cairns, the Next Star showing he actually is a Right Now star, banging in a career-best 32 points on 13-of-16 shooting to keep the Taipans competitive against a defending NBL champion which now is on a roll that would be scaring the rest of the league.

When 'home sweet home' means lousy bedsheets

In: NBL — Friday, 7 Nov, 2025

THERE was just not much more Bryce Hamilton could have done to get Tasmania across the line against South East Melbourne last night in its jinxed Silverdome venue in Launceston, after Adelaide earlier outlasted New Zealand at their equally parlous "home" venue in Christchurch.

United's travails with Javale leave Hawks soaring

In: NBL — Thursday, 6 Nov, 2025

WHATEVER United tried was to no avail, Melbourne just could not stop Javale, the Hawks' 3-time NBA champion centre with a career-best 37 points as Illawarra formally apologised to its fans for last week's 42-point home defeat in the best way possible - an emphatic win over the NBL's finest.
