ILLAWARRA import Tyler Harvey has hit his share of big shots during his NBL career but none bigger than the triple which tonight tied the Championship Series at 1-1 after his foul on the previous play put Ian Clark at the stripe for three free throws which gave Melbourne the lead with 10.4 seconds remaining.

THERE's a great line by Cher in the movie Moonstruck when she replies to a declaration of love from Nicolas Cage's character by slapping his face twice and yelling at him: "Snap out of it!" Ahead of tomorrow's Grand Final Game 2 of the NBL's best-of-five Championship Series, it's a reaction the Illawarra Hawks could definitely use.

AFTER an embarrassing Game 2 in which he described his own performance as "trash," Trey Kell last night led a fierce, focused and unforgiving regular season champion Illawarra into the NBL Championship Series with a go-to-whoa erasure of an unsuspecting South East Melbourne to emphatically clinch their semi final 2-1.

MELBOURNE United last night qualified for the NBL Championship Series when Ian Clark and Chris Goulding combined to bring down Kristian Doolittle and Bryce Cotton in an epic 113-112 last gasp victory from a match that has to rank as one of the most spectacular in playoff history, though no compensation for a gallant Perth Wildcats.
NBL: Phoenix put the Hurt on Hawks
SOUTH East Melbourne made the adjustments, Matt Hurt remembered he's not just an import but in the NBL All Star Five, Owen Foxwell irritated Tyler Harvey out of the contest and Nathan Sobey did enough right for Phoenix to tie its semi final against Illawarra with a 101-94 reversal.
