THE WNBL and NBL playoffs are in full swing and there is news galore right across basketball so this week on the Brad&Boti podcast with Sydney Kings stalwart Brad Rosen, we focused on the events and news of the past few days, ahead of tonight's Southside-Melbourne semi final.

Of course we covered that too, Brad's season-long prediction of a Townsville-Melbourne women's Grand Final already taking one lump with Perth eliminating the Fire.

The Lynx scoring 108 points to claim Game 2 of their semi series with a sweep was a stunning result, paced by wonderful import Aari McDonald.

But how about scoring 102 ... and losing?

So the defending women's champs are done and ousted, with Perth's championship opponent going to the wire.

How big a role with Lauren Jackson play? Huge, I'd predict.

Basketball Australia needs to find some way to get her on that plane to Paris.

How good was Tasmania centre Will Magnay as the JackJumpers sent Illawarra into another elimination final, this time against New Zealand?

And how good was Illawarra - and its raucous home crowd - in bringing the Breakers' brave playoff - and Tom Abercrombie's stellar career - to an end?

That was simply one of the outstanding NBL matches of the year and a shame the loser had to depart. But as we discuss, would New Zealand have had much left for the semi final against Melbourne? They were the walking wounded and did themselves and their fans proud to get this far.

But what about this Illawarra crew? How great have they been? And just how much of a step did Justin Robinson take? That was easily his best game of the season.
