Brad&Boti: Crocodile tears for Sydney

POOR Brad&Boti podcast colleague, past Kings captain Brad Rosen, had a mixed NBL round when he described Sydney's loss to Adelaide akin to watching paint dry, then was back in full fanboy mode as it smashed New Zealand. Fortunately Sydney's Flames saved their WNBL season after also going 1-1 over the round.

The Flames lost to Southside but recovered to beat Perth in the "Pink Hoops" day at Qudos Bank Arena which featured a WNBL-NBL double-header and brought in more than 16,000 fans.

Not quite as spectacular a day as Melbourne's recent open roof extravaganza when it hosted Perth, the sea of pink across the stands and the turn-out was fabulous in raising breast cancer awareness.

But how big were the injuries coming out of the WNBL showdowns between league-leaders Townsville and Melbourne? The Fire lost import Amanda Zahui B and the Boomers watched key frontcourt rotation player Penina Davidson go down with a calf tear.

That is likely to impact on both clubs, with Melbourne probably the worse off with Davidson's injury looking a bad one.

What a WNBL round it was too with recently selected Opals Lauren Jackson scoring a season-best 28 points against Sydney, then the Flames' veteran Cayla George also going off for 28 against Perth.

The NBL also had its share of ups-and-downs, Tasmania now looking in a little bit of discomfort after losing twice in the round and Brisbane emerging with its fourth straight win.

There was drama aplenty in both of the JackJumpers' losses, and New Zealand now also appears to have its back against the wall.

Brad has a Rosen Rattler, I throw in a Nagy Nasty and we also give you our WNBL and NBL Players of the Round, and our Best Moments from both of the competitions.
