FLASHBACK 115: Oct.5-10, 1976
Tweet*FLASHBACKS, my irregular "lucky dip" where I just reach into my drawers of old Australian basketball stuff and transcribe or post whatever I find for you.
From 1970-1979, the annual Australian Club Championship was the biggest event in the men's playing calendar, ranking right alongside the annual Australian Championships (between state teams).
Pre-dating the NBL, but ultimately the tournament which led to the league's birth, the ACC brought together the very best teams from around the nation to compete in a carnival format to determine Australia's top club team.
In the 1976 Olympic year, the championship was held in Sydney and this week I stumbled upon the remnants of the ACC's series program.
Check it out for some of the greatest names in Australian basketball history.
